Fans of taiwan cinema, here we go:

Taiwan Cinefest 2010 - London & Glasgow

QUOTE

Asian movie fans won't want to miss the 2nd Taiwan Cinefest at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, March 17th – March 21st 2010 and Glasgow Film Theatre, March 23rd – March 31st 2010.

The Taiwan Cinefest is Europe’s largest Taiwanese film festival showcasing a variety of new and award-winning Taiwanese features, documentaries and short films by established and new filmmakers.

The 2010 edition includes 4 UK premieres:
Ian Lou’s visually stunning “A Place Of One’s Own”, starring Jack Kao (Shinjuku Incident, Island of Fire),
“Sorry, I Love You” from Yu-Hsien Lin,
the comedy romp “Step By Step” and
“How Are You Dad”, a brave and moving series of stories surrounding father/son relationships by director, Chang Tso-Chi.

The festival also includes the critically acclaimed
“Yang Yang” by Ang Lee mentored,
Cheng Yu-Chieh and Chen Huai-en’s “Island Etude”, Taiwan’s official nomination to the 2008 Academy awards for best foreign language picture.

There is also a special Q & A session on the opening night with Yu-Hsien Lin, director of “Sorry, I Love You” and Taiwan’s most successful documentary of all time: “Jump Boys!”.

Additionally, on Friday March 19th, the festival will be staging the annual New Talent Showcase at Goldsmiths College (University of London), screening eight short films by young Taiwanese filmmakers from around the world and with Yu-Hsien Lin also in attendance to take part in a filmmakers workshop.

If you’ve experimented with the dynamic filmmaking of Hong Kong and China, Taiwan should be next on the list. There is a great deal of exciting activity taking place in the Taiwan filmmaking community and no better place to discover the best this market has to offer than the Taiwan Cinefest.
