Surprise non. Il a sans doute besoin de renflouer le porte-feuille... alors ça ou de la comédie pure et dure... c'est un peu la même.

...et en attendant, on attend toujours ses polars, il semble prendre son temps. Johnnie To a fait de très bonne comédies (Needing You est quasiment un de ses meilleurs films, et personnellement je le considère supérieur à Sparrow (haut la main) ou même Exiled) mais clair qu'à chaque fois il vaut mieux craindre le pire.

Despite smooth direction which makes the film painless to watch, and a charming performance by Mainland actress Gao Yuanyuan (高圓圓) — as a woman who can't decide between a charming fox (Louis Koo 古天樂) and a nice lamb (Daniel Wu 吳彥祖) — it's at least a notch below To's best rom-coms, with none of the emotional undertow of Yesterday (with its great chemistry between Andy Lau 劉德華 and Sammi Cheng 鄭秀文) or the clever plot-twists of the Taiwan-set Turn Left Turn Right (向左走・向右走, 2003).

Vu, j'ai bien aimé. Le film fait 2 heures, mais il est prenant et bat toutes comédies romantiques niaise à pleine couture. Pas mal d'éléments sociaux et culurelles hkais, ce qui n'est pas pour me déplaire. J'aime Daniel Wu ici. D'habitude, je le déteste, c'est dire Voici une très belle critique en anglais de notre ami Ross Chen de Lovehkfilm.com qui donne un aperçu des bons et mauvais points du film. J'ai pu voir le film hier soir précipité sous l'impulsion de ton post ah_thomas, et c'est effectivement une réussite. Je n'étais pas trop tenté par le film au vu du scénario et des trailer, et finalement j'ai vraiment accroché dès les premiers plans. On reconnais bien le style de Johnnie To qui permet de faire passer le film comme une lettre à la poste: la réalisation dynamique, les acteurs bien dirigés,... et encore chapeau à Xavier Jamaux pour les compositions (le thème jazzy!). Le film est peut être juste un peu long (1h52) mais rien de méchant.
