The historical drama is based on the legendary Yang Yuhuan, who was a royal concubine during the Tang Dynasty some 1,400 years ago.
As the story goes, it was Yang's beauty that led to civil war. @
In a statement issued today, the production company said Kwak refused to shoot the film according to its requirements which emphasized a traditional Chinese understanding of the Tang Dynasty.
After friendly talks, both sides agreed that Kwak [*] would not direct the film.
The production team also denied the rumors that Kwak left because of a dispute with lead actress Fan Bingbing and that Fan was not an investor of the film, as many previous reports said. @cultural-china.com 12 mars 2012
