Here you can find a list of the HK-films I've seen. It's not to show off my collection , but to tell you about which films you can ask me something. |
but after the first reply it became a Sammo topic and as the BIG MAN deserves his own topic, I decided to change the title of this topic in Sammo Hung Kam Bo. You can read more about Sammo on Klara's site, and when you vist it you realy must read the reviews she has. Here is the list of reviews as it is now, I hope I won't forget to keep it updated. Carry on pickpocket (1982) [ review] Dragons Forever (1988) [ review] Eastern Condors (1987) [ review] Encounters of the Spooky Kind (1980) [ review] Encounters of the Spooky Kind 2 (1990) [ review] Enter the Fat Dragon (1978) [ review] Gambling Ghost (1991) [ review] Hapkido (1972) [ review] Heart of Dragon (1985) [ review] Incredible Kung Fu Master (1979) [ review] Iron Fisted Monk (1977) [ review] Knockabout (1979) [ review] Magnificent Butcher (1979) [ review] Millionaires Express (1986) [ review] My Lucky Stars (1985) [ review] Pedicab Driver (1989) [ review] Paper Mariage (1988)[ review] Prodigal son (1981)[ review] Project A (1983) [ review] Slickers vs killers (1991) [ review] The Victim (1980) [ review] Wheels on Meals (1984) [ review] Where's officer Tuba? I forgot where the puppet that slapped him in his face came from |
Was it Gene Kelly or Red Skelton?
|
If I remember well, it's from a Charlie Chaplin.
As for the doubling of Dick Wei, it may just be a problem of planning. Dick may have been working elsewhere when Samo thought of those little addition in the fight and thus made it with a double.

Thanks for the screencaps from Pickpocket. Oh yes, the fork-dance is brilliant. Is it really the same Sammo Hung who bullied Jackie Chan and the others? The same Sammo Hung, who scared the Mr Vampire stuff to death when he appeared??? This is what I really like in Sammo. In one moment he is a silly little boy, looking so innocent and stupid, then in the next a brutal fighter. And apart from his movements, it's the change in his eyes that are amazing. He could kill with them. All the dances are great, I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the step dance in Owl. Amazing! About stunts I have a question. Chin Kar Lok said that in a movie he had to do a stunt through a window from a ship, but as it was too dangerous, Lam Ching Ying didn't let him to do it, he did it himself. Any idea? Can it be Paper Marriage? When Sammo comes throught the window, then Maggie Cheung falls on his back. I'm sure that was a stuntguy. Could it be the scene? But that's not a ship... (but there is water.... )

It's better like this For Clarissamia, i try to understand what you said (my english is not perfect ) about stunts 'cause it's very interesting, you said that it may be Lam Ching Ying who made a stunt instead of Chin Kar Lok ? I'm surprised 'cause we know that Chin Kar Lok was one of the best stuntmen in that period, and he made many dangerous stunts. However, i don't think (but i may be wrong) that Lam Ching Ying was a stuntman. A very great actor for sure, but for the stunts i don't know ! By the way, it's a pleasure to discuss about it.

But we are making the topic drift more and more and I'm affraid to be scolded by Pieter |
You are talking about Sammo's double. So it's okay!
|
My bet would be for Yuen Wah. |
Strange coincidence, can you read my mind? I tought I saw a moustache!

Sammo said in an interview (or it was the chat some years ago, cannot remember) that he was badly hurt during making the breaking glass scene in Paper Marriage. So that should be himself doing the stunt. I'll have a look at this too, tonight. As for Lam Ching Ying and Chin Kar Lok - they were both members of Sammo's team and thus I don't think they're very much off-topic And answering the question about Lam and Chin Kar Lok stunts don't need another topic I just put my short answer down here, sorry pieter My friend Katalin found a Chin Kar Lok interview where he himself mentioned that dangerous stunt where Lam didn't let him do. They were very close to each other, Lam behaved with him much like a father. Cannot find that interview now, but if anyone is interested, I ask Katalin. I'm off the off-topic now!
