Impressive list! I'm happy to see you saw a loooot of Sammo films. So how did you like his dance in Carry on Pickpocket? I never saw him dance before and I was speachless. There is a scene when Sammo and Dick Wei fights on the ship. Some stunts are definitely made by Yuen Biao there. I don't see why it was needed? I've seen more difficult movements from Dick Wei. What you think? |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Lundi 09 Octobre 2006 19h20 |
Hey Sammo's fans, i'm here Yes the dance in Carry On Pickpocket is nice : but in this movie, i prefer fork's dance style Moreover, for me the best Sammo's dance is in Owl vs Bombo : Nice too isn't it ? For the fight on the ship, you're right but i don't know why too !! |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Lundi 09 Octobre 2006 19h44 |
Both dances, the Charlie Chaplin fork-dance and the Fred Astaire parkdance, are nice. I forgot where the puppet that slapped him in his face came from Sammo knows his classics! |

If I remember well, it's from a Charlie Chaplin. As for the doubling of Dick Wei, it may just be a problem of planning. Dick may have been working elsewhere when Samo thought of those little addition in the fight and thus made it with a double. |

Yes Palp, you may be right. |

Thanks for the screencaps from Pickpocket. Oh yes, the fork-dance is brilliant. Is it really the same Sammo Hung who bullied Jackie Chan and the others? The same Sammo Hung, who scared the Mr Vampire stuff to death when he appeared??? This is what I really like in Sammo. In one moment he is a silly little boy, looking so innocent and stupid, then in the next a brutal fighter. And apart from his movements, it's the change in his eyes that are amazing. He could kill with them. All the dances are great, I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the step dance in Owl. Amazing! About stunts I have a question. Chin Kar Lok said that in a movie he had to do a stunt through a window from a ship, but as it was too dangerous, Lam Ching Ying didn't let him to do it, he did it himself. Any idea? Can it be Paper Marriage? When Sammo comes throught the window, then Maggie Cheung falls on his back. I'm sure that was a stuntguy. Could it be the scene? But that's not a ship... (but there is water.... ) |

I don't have a list of the films I've seen, so my list goes like this: I've seen (with a few exceptions) all the Sammo, Ricky Hui, Lam Ching Ying films. And of course, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. Quite an easy list to follow, isn't it? Ah yes, about the Puppet in Owl, I guess it should be Chaplin, as Sammo is a huge Chaplin fan. |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Mardi 10 Octobre 2006 13h59
You can be right, but I'm sure I remember it from an other film, but as Chaplin is often copied it still can be his idea. |

It's better like this For Clarissamia, i try to understand what you said (my english is not perfect ) about stunts 'cause it's very interesting, you said that it may be Lam Ching Ying who made a stunt instead of Chin Kar Lok ? I'm surprised 'cause we know that Chin Kar Lok was one of the best stuntmen in that period, and he made many dangerous stunts. However, i don't think (but i may be wrong) that Lam Ching Ying was a stuntman. A very great actor for sure, but for the stunts i don't know ! By the way, it's a pleasure to discuss about it. |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Mardi 10 Octobre 2006 17h02 |
Where not going to talk about Lam Ching Ying or Chin Kar Lok, both deserve an own topic too! As far as I can see on my screenshots (didn't put the DVD in the PC) the man that goes through the window in Paper Marriage is not Sammo Hung, nor Chin Kar Lok. I will have a look at that scene soon and tell you more about it. |
Ecrit par: Jean-Louis Mardi 10 Octobre 2006 17h02 |
Lam Ching Ying was a stuntman too, i believe he was one of the Bruce Lee's double... |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Mardi 10 Octobre 2006 17h39
What did I say!!!
I did play the scene again and again. I have the impression that there are two people involved: one breaking the glass and one falling down. The guy who breaks the glass looks a bit taller and thinner, then the one who falls down. Here's the best shot I could get from the last one. |
Ecrit par: Palplathune Mardi 10 Octobre 2006 17h48 |
My bet would be for Yuen Wah. But we are making the topic drift more and more and I'm affraid to be scolded by Pieter |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Mardi 10 Octobre 2006 17h56
You are talking about Sammo's double. So it's okay!
Strange coincidence, can you read my mind? I tought I saw a moustache! |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Mercredi 11 Octobre 2006 07h40 |
Sammo said in an interview (or it was the chat some years ago, cannot remember) that he was badly hurt during making the breaking glass scene in Paper Marriage. So that should be himself doing the stunt. I'll have a look at this too, tonight. As for Lam Ching Ying and Chin Kar Lok - they were both members of Sammo's team and thus I don't think they're very much off-topic And answering the question about Lam and Chin Kar Lok stunts don't need another topic I just put my short answer down here, sorry pieter My friend Katalin found a Chin Kar Lok interview where he himself mentioned that dangerous stunt where Lam didn't let him do. They were very close to each other, Lam behaved with him much like a father. Cannot find that interview now, but if anyone is interested, I ask Katalin. I'm off the off-topic now! |

If he says so, it must be true, but the scene in which it happend can be reshot with an other guy, so it doesn't have to be in the film
I forgive you But back to Sammo. I think he's great: Millionair's Express, The Prodical Son, Knockabout, and Odd Couple are the ones I like the most, but he realy surprised me with his acting skills in Heart of Dragon. Have you ever seen a director/action director play such a role? |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Mercredi 11 Octobre 2006 11h52 |
I found the http://www.kungfucinema.com/articles/2001-04-28-01.htm. Here he says he hit the windshield, maybe I misunderstood him? I'm not sure now. I remember somewhere else he talked about it as well, and because the window didn't explode before he hit it, he got injured badly. Cannot remember where I read it... Back to Heart of the Dragon... Yes, he is a great dramatic actor too. I liked the audicommentar of HKL edition of is by Bey. They wanted Sammo to fight at any price, it doesn't matter that he is a mentally ill person. I admire him for being able NOT TO FIGHT, when it's not right, although the majority of people want him to fight... I too, love to see him and then , because he is simply amazing. But he can step aside and let others make the fight - and in the meantime we all know that he is simply the best of them all... |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Mercredi 11 Octobre 2006 12h22 |
Sammo is also able to product different movie's style : comedy/drama/kungfu comedy/ghost kungfu comdey/war,... He's a genious It will be very interesting too to make a list of all the person (all we can remember) he introduced in the HK films for the first time : - Yukari Oshima (Millionaire's Express) - Michiko Nishiwaki (My Lucky Stars ) - Richard Norton (Twinkle...) - Michelle Yeoh (Owl vs Bombo) - Cynthia Rothrock (Yes Madam) - Joyce Godenzi (of course ) and many others for sure (you can add them if you want). |

Right now Casanova Wong comes to mind, but as Sammo was first out in filmbusiness of the Peking Opera school, I say Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and the others. But as actors and not only stuntmen I would put here Chin Kar Lok, Lam Ching Ying and even Dick Wei. I'm typing in an old Sammo interview by Bey Logan and I have to admit I didn't know a lot of things... I never knew a thing about Haing S. Ngor... Didn't even know he died, let alone his life... I am really ashamed of myself... |

I guess so! I never saw that film I guess, too much focus on Sammo and Ricky Hui Well, I couldn't rest, I made some captures of the window stunt and I am 100% that it is Sammo we see. I say, justice for the Great Man! Now, with this making clear, I'll sleep really well. Good night! Oh, and I typed in the interview, in case you'd like to read it it's http://www.sammohungkambo.com/beyloganinterview.htm Does anyone know which year it was? I guess it's around 1990 as he speaks about Pantyhose Hero. |

Thanks J-L, but unfortunately I cannot read French... Or rather, I can, but don't understand. But still, there is only Eastern Condors (Sammo topic, see? ) mentioned and other films not... I was actually really surprised to find entry about Haing S. Ngor in the Hungarian Wikipedia! Pieter, don't open a Hungarian topic please, but we sure would deserve it! |

Hi, I'm making caps of Hapkido now and I couldn't resist to send this one: Our Great Man looking VERY fierce here... That reminds me of his "other side", the comedian, so here are some faces I liked to see: That's whom I call the sleeping Lion! Don't wake him up! OK, I have some more, but I'll have pity on you and won't post them now. |

This one is a bit more serious. Does anyone know what happened to Sammo's left shoulder? What kind of scar is that? |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Mercredi 18 Octobre 2006 07h09 |
Thank you very much Klara for all those pictures They are all very good. I don't remember to ever see the one with the scar. Maybe it's from Pantyhose Hero, one of the few Sammo's movie i can't find anywhere |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Mercredi 18 Octobre 2006 08h18 |
This photo with the scar is from "Daddy, Father and Papa" from 1991. The first time I saw this scar was in "Touch and Go" aka: Point of No Return. I cannot recall it from earlier. So he must have suffered an accident or sg in the beginning of 90s. It sure looks bad. I'll have a look at this in other films. |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Mercredi 18 Octobre 2006 08h25 |
Thanks Klara Yes Daddy, Father, Papa is a very rare too, so hard to find again. What a pity for a fan like me. For the scar, that's the price to pay when you make a lot of dangerous stunts and fights. Look at Jackie Chan too, and many HK actors. |
Ecrit par: Palplathune Mercredi 18 Octobre 2006 12h05 |
You didn't really miss much with Daddy, Father and Papa, it's average at best. A remake of a French movie by the way ("les Compères" if I remember correctly). |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Mercredi 18 Octobre 2006 13h33 |
Thank you Palp, but it's not a problem for me. It's crazy to say it, but i really want to see all Sammo's films even if it's not a relly good one. Moreover, even in a bad movie i will always find a little detail who will enjoy me Of course i like fightings scenes, but comedy played by Sammo always give me a really good moment. |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Mercredi 18 Octobre 2006 13h41
YES! That's what I like to hear! That's what a true fan says. It's the same with me. I don't say I love all Sammo's films, because that wouldn't be true. But, as a fan, I want to see everything, and it's not only about action scenes, but about comedy as well. I cannot say I am very fond of Slickers vs Killers, because it is simply a SILLY film, but it did make me laugh a number of times. And I cannot say I like Shaw Brothers films - in general. I find them way too bloody and cruel and terrible. For fans surely there is a beauty in them too. I agree of course, Daddy is not the best of Sammo, Palpathune is right. But he is in it, and for me that what matters. |

OK, I put the caps here, so we can see them together: These are NOT Sammo: This IS Sammo: The guy up there is at least 40 years old. Sammo at the time of this film was 19, and it shows... This is Hapkido 1972. Little Sammo has round, very round face here, and that elder guy has oval face. Looks like he could be Sammo's dad. Also, Sammo's scar on his lips can be shown clearly and that man has none. I'd bet my life on it that only the last 2 pics are Sammo here. Only this and death is sure in this life, believe me! |

Even if I have to They are must have!! Hopefully I can put on some screencaps during the weekend of Eight Taels of Gold - I managed to get it after a year's search. |

But it is indeed a very interesting picture, as it was taken when Lam Ching Ying died, it is about him and Sammo. But Kate knows more about it than me. |
Ecrit par: Katalin Vendredi 20 Octobre 2006 12h07 |
Not much I'm afraid . You can see Lam's name in the title and the photo was taken after his funeral. Sammo was asked about Lam's illness. Sammo told the journalists that he knew NOTHING about his illness, and got his death notice from the papers. Lam did not tell noone that he is dieing, just a handful of people, who kept his secret. The dear friend, Sammo was very upset, hurt and even angry at him for facing his illness alone and for not letting his friends to share in his pain. He expressed if he knew earlier, he would have tried his best to help him on his treatment, to introduce doctors to him. Although he couldn't guarantee he would be cured, but anything was worth to try. So he felt Ching Ying was too stubborn, carrying everything by himself. It turned out that he did not WANT to tell Sammo, because he knew that Sammo is very strong and would wanted him to see the doctor. Endless, needless treatments, lying all the time, being sick over and over again in need of others' help, chaining somebody to his bed for days and nights he did not want. So that is why Sammo looked so sad on that photo. He was disappointed a bit in their friendship, I think. |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Vendredi 20 Octobre 2006 12h20
That is all very sad. But Sammo's disappointment is understandable. *I* would be very disappointed if *you* kept such a secret.... BUT: in time I would understand your reason, and maybe *I* would keep such a secret from you, too. I am sure Sammo was not really angry, and even if he was at first, soon he realized that Ching Ying was right.... I have seen my Mother die of cancer, I have seen a close collegue to fight her battle against cancer - exactly as you said, endless treatments, chemotherapy, all for a short year she won - but all the time being terribly sick. Not a quality life, but suffering all along. It was not worth it - say I. Maybe she'd think differently, as she fought to the end. I saw her husband die in his soul... That's what Ching Ying didn't want to his family, his children, his friends. I do understand him. Not 100%, but mostly yes, I think he did the right thing. Sorry, Sammo... |

Tony Leung Ka Fei knew from the very first moment... |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Vendredi 20 Octobre 2006 12h55
That only shows that Tony is a very nice person. He wouldn't have bullied LCY to go to the doctors. Sammo would have until Lam would have said: OK OK I pay a visit to the doctors, just have mercy!! But really. Sammo would have talked to him into that out of love and friendship. He couldn't just sit around and wait until LCY dies. He'd have done everything to help Ah Ying. |

I'm a bit upset, and I feel I share it with you. I checked the Chinese Sammo site - a while ago I exchanged a few emails with the guy who makes it, then he disappeared. Anyway, I see that he translated all the interviews I wrote down from audiocommentaries: Bey Logan, Sifu Guy Lai (even used the same screencap I made of him!), Dick Wei, Yukari Oshima, Cecilia, Richard Ng... He put only his name on there. I am glad he liked them and he uses them, but I think it would have been fair if he asks me about it, or at least mentions the source... What you think? Am I too sensitive and overreacting? Anyway, I wrote him an email about it... I know if I put something on the site it is public, but still, I think I would have deserved a mail saying the he uses it... |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Vendredi 03 Novembre 2006 09h41 |
It's not nice what he did! At least he should have told you that he would use your information. You don't make friends, if you work the way he did. Not everything you put on line becomes public property. You do have copyrights on your own work. They are not allowed to copy it without asking. There's only one thing: you can't do much about it, if they steel your work. In this case 'your' work isn't realy yours. You didn't make the interviews and you didn't make the film you took the screencap from, but never the less it's not nice what he did and I was upset too, when I noticed somebody copied a page from my website for his own website. Ofcourse it's nice when somebody thinks your work is good enough to copy, but why not send a message that you will use the information? I do hope this incident will not stop you from working on your website. Keep the good work going and don't get upset too much! Pieter |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Vendredi 03 Novembre 2006 10h06 |
Thanks Pieter, It will definitely not stop me from working on my site, but to be honest saddened me a bit. Naturally, what I typed from the interview is not mine, but it sure was a hell lot of work to do it. People cannot imagine how many times I had to listen to the commentaries until I figured out what Bey and the others said (even more difficult when they don't speak nice English themselves). After all, English is my second language. Then to write them down on paper, then to type... Endless hours with this... This is why I am upset. If it was only a matter of copying and pasting it from somewhere, I wouldn't really care. But what upsets me more is that we did exchange kind emails and I think it is not too much to expect at least an email that hey, I used your work! If he asked me in advance, naturally I would've said of course, go ahead, use it. After all it is for Sammo and that's what I want to do, to make Sammo more widely known, and I don't regret a minute I spent working for him. But when you put so much time and energy into something and then you see it without a credit as someone else's... Not a nice feeling, I can tell you. But of course, my time and energy and life is for Sammo AND of course my dearest Man Choi, Ricky Hui. Maybe I should put on the site: Hey guys, you are free to steal it! It's for Ricky and Sammo, after all! |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Vendredi 03 Novembre 2006 10h16
I know how you feel and I really don't understand why people don't take the trouble of writing an email (but remeber sometimes emails get lost!). It so much nicer! I can imagine how much work it has been. I tried it once and stopped after of a few minutes of the interview You've done a great job!
Perhaps it will work! |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Vendredi 03 Novembre 2006 12h09
Oh yes, i can imagine it very well. I know the great work you have done, and how many hours you spend to realize it, and that's why i can understand what you are feeling right now. But i'm sure, someday you will be congratuled and rewarded for all these efforts. |

I don't want to be off topic, but I have to tell you that what happened to Clarissamia is not a single event! I experience the same day by day! My Chinese friend, I would like to say that, though I am quite angry with him, does the same with my screencaps. I have more then 2000 LCY captures on my site. I worked on it the whole Summer. I looked like in the mornings... He takes them, label them with his own logo and that is it. No asking. Of course I would say YES, as I made them for make LCY more known!!! But still, this behaviour is not really fair A few days ago he suggested me to watermark my pictures... I told him I don't want to. It would ruin the pictures on the other hand I don't have time to do it again. And then I asked him very slyly, if he had used my pics and he said: "Ha-ha, YES!.... |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Dimanche 05 Novembre 2006 18h37 |
My poor Kate, I know exactly what you are talking about. I know how busy you are at work and you have the time for your site only at night... Most of the time you work until 2-3 o'clock in the morning, getting about 2 hours sleep... and I remember one night you didn't even go to sleep but was working all night, because you didn't want people to see your site under construction... So I know how you feel about using your pics without permission. But I agree, I couldn't watermark all my Sammo pictures either, it would mean to upload thousands of photos again... and honestly, the watermark distroy the pictures... I am totally with you here... How would my Man Choi pics look like with watermarks??? And the great Sammo? I wouldn't ruin those pics. |
Ecrit par: pieter53 Dimanche 05 Novembre 2006 19h02 |
It's a shame that people copy your work without asking! I know how you both feel. But both of you know for sure, that there are people who like your work very much and appreciate what you have done. It's better then having a few hundred visitors, who stay online for just a few seconds, that's not very stimulating! Still it would be nice if they would show their appreciation in an other way! |

Well, as for my Sammo site, there is news. And I'd like to give justice to this Chinese boy. He answered my email and told me that he indeed appreciates my work and some of the commentaries were based upon my work, and he did write my name. I checked it again and he really put my name there. If it happened before or after my email, doesn't really matter anymore. He admitted he used my site and gave credit. For me that's the end of it, and it's fair like that. Matter closed. No more complain. |

Hi to all, I'd like to seek some advice from you guys. I'd like to complete the Sammo biography, keeping the HKL bio style. Which means, picking out the best films and going into detail a bit more. Which films do you suggest? I'm asking because I see differently surely, a girl. The first part of the bio ended with Heart of Dragon, 1985. There are plenty of films that I love (well, almost all of them), but cannot include them all, can I? or can I...? Waiting for suggestions, Cheers, Klara I'd say very cleverly, Eastern Condors is definite |

Actually, looks doesn't matter. Sammo is a genious and he doesn't care about how he looks if it is about our entertainment. He'd do anything to make us enjoy ourselves. I respect that. And yes, I love to see him look good. But he wouldn't be an artist if he didn't do what is best for us. HK films are not beauty contests anyway. |

Last night I started to write down the audiocommentary of Wheels on Meals by Bey Logan. It'll be quite a long one it seems. It's going slowly. I haven't listened to English for months, really. Everything I watch I watch it in Cantonese with English subtitles. It was very difficult to get used to Bey's comments again... I am at the scene only when Sammo first appears. I never noticed that Yuen's jump at the beginning was acually stuntdoubled by someone else. Bey explained it why and I guess he is right about it. I would need native English speakers to checkout what I type, so if anyone is willing to help, I'd be really grateful. There were expressions I didn't understand, and I'm at the beginning! There was an interesting theory about picking this title but honestly, didn't understand Bey's explanation. He said before GH had two other films released with the letter "M" and they both flopped so they changed to Wheels on Meals... Don't quite get it though. He was talking about a film with David Niven (saying a french title with beginning M) but I cannot find such film for David... It would be interesting to write these comments down of the title though... any help bitte? |

Klara, i understand your problem, 'cause i have the same. You can imagine for a french person who learn a little english many years ago at school, how difficult it is. When i read the subtitles, no problem, but when i listen english without text, it's never easy. And moreover, Bey Logan have a very nice english accent, but too fast for me. Good luck |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Mercredi 13 Décembre 2006 20h58 |
Thanks tao pai pai. Yes, it can be very difficult. I started English in secondary school but didn't do really well. I was much better in Russian, can you believe it? Once I started to learn French from a classmate in secondary school. I was very interested in the French Revolution and wanted to learn the language (Depardieu was fantastic Danton!) . I gave up very soon. I simply cannot make those sounds... I am not at home in different accents, but for me Bey speaks beautiful English, very clear, very understandable, but you are right, he can speak awfully fast. And a LOT. I guess it is because he wants to give as much information as possible during the film. I think he could talk a whole day. I do enjoy his stories, his infos, the way he speaks about these heroes. It is clear he has a tremendous love and respect for Hong Kong artists. For Sammo of course, in the first place. I cannot listen to him for a long time, because I cannot concentrate for so long. I get a headache from the continuous talking and I have to rewind him often, when he starts to speak ultra fast It is very difficult to learn a language. The closest to my heart is English and now Cantonese. I am crazy about learning Cantonese, but still couldn't find a teacher here. |

I just read the review of Don't Give a Damn. I think I have a Sammo interview printed somewhere about it, and seem to recall that even Bobby Samuels commented on the racist thing, which was not meant to be that but Sammo was attacked and criticised for it a lot. I will try to find this tonight, cannot remember where I put it... To be honest, I have the film and watched it a few times but it never occured to me that it has anything racist in it... I liked the film, it was just like the others before. Fights, romance, comedy. The fight between Yuen Biao and Sammo impressed me - but you know me, I am not a martial arts expert. If Sammo lifts his fist to hit I am already impressed... Ah yes, and I liked Yuen Biao with that beard, although I don 't like moustache and beard. He looked more masculine Sammo's ponytail was strange, but hey, still better than the perm in Wheels On Meals. I love his usual hairdo, longer and streight. OR the Eastern Condors hairstyle, very short and boyish. Please no more curls, Sammo!!!! |

Hi guys, I couldn't find Sammo interview as I looked through my papers, but I did find a Samuels interview, where he was asked about Don't give a damn. "... Unfortunately Sammo"s wicked camera work, the amazing finale and Samuels' acting were lost in a cloud of racist dialogue that took about twenty seconds of screen time. While the words in question won't be repeated here, it did an incredible amount of harm to Hung's reputation and western audience were completely turned off. "I will assure you that Sammo had nothing to do with that. The screenwriter had signed some type of agreement with Bojon that they can not change anything in it. I couldn't believe it! It was the screenwriter's idea and I didn't even see it until the premiere!", remarked Samuels." And some proof about Sammo's generosity: "... Sammo Hung was his only hope. "Please catch the next plane on out here and you can stay with me. I will take care of you". Hung told Samuels. Using up his last privilege, Samuels made the daring move to Hong Kong, and didn't look back! ... within a day, Hung had secured all the paper work with the immigration department. "I was in Hong Kong with the status of working for Mr. Hung. It was definitely an honor. I would live with him for over five years", said Samuels. The experience gave the eager youth the knowledge of film and and a portal into Hung's life. They would train together most every day bouncing from fighting to filming. Learning from the master gave Samuels a new outlook on his career, but it would take more than a year after this transformation took place for the audience to see it. Without any formal acting training, Hung enrolled Samuels in the Shaw Bros TVB acting school which was the first time an African American had ever been admitted. " I really like this interview, I have to say. |

Hi everyone I asked Bey Logan again to help me to get my questions to Sammo and he kindly offered to forward them to Sammo. It wouldn't be fair if it was onlyl my questions, so I'd like to ask you to participate in it. f you have any interesting questions, anything you'd like to ask the big man, please write me and hopefully he'll answer. |
Ecrit par: tao pai pai Lundi 15 Janvier 2007 17h43 |
That's great Can you tell us which questions you will ask to him to have an idea ? |
Ecrit par: Clarissamia Lundi 15 Janvier 2007 19h07 |
Hehe, so far I have some stupid questions, but I'd like to think of better ones. I thought we could send him the questions and he could chose which ones he'd like to answer. OK, here are my questions but DON'T LAUGH AT ME! Some (if not all are silly) I am not sure I'll send all, possibly just pick the more serious ones... 1. Why don’t you write a Kung Fu Encyclopedia as your character in Legend of Dragon? 2. Which of your films you would recommend Hong Kong Legends to restore? 3. In which of your films do you sing? Winners and Sinners, Eastern Condors and…? Why don’t you sing more? 4. Which are your favourite and less favourite Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao films? 5. Which are your best and worst qualities? 6. If there were timetravel, which country and age would you like to live in? 7. Why don’t you write a book about your life like Jackie did? It would be interesting to compare your memories, and read your wonderful stories you can tell. 8. Your best and worst experience with your fans? 9. What would you do differently if you had a chance to start your life again? 10. Is there a film you regret making? 11. Why didn’t you appear in Project BB? 12. Do you have a dream role/directing? 13. If you were a Sammo Hung fan, what questions would you ask him? 14. What scent and aftershave do you use? 15. Is there anything you’d act/direct/choreograph differently in any of your old films? 16. Which was the easiest and most complex characters you played? 17. Which was the most dangerous/difficult stunts you ever did? 18. You have lots of injuries. Please tell about them. 19. What do you first look on a woman? Which qualities are important? 20. Do you have DVD/VHS of your own films? Do you ever watch them? 21. Do you believe in past lives? 22. Which extreme sport would you like to try? 23. Favourite classical composer? 24. Do you believe in UFOs/ghosts? ( you have a lot of ghosts in your films) 25. Do you take a vow on New Year’s Eve? Can you stick to it? 26. Is there anything you’d like to tell but never was asked? Now that they are here, you can tell me openly which are too silly so that I can delete them. |

I would ask: 1) Sammo, your contribution and development of HK cinema is unmatched, however it is sad the industry has changed so much since your 'golden era' of film making (late 1970's to early 80's). If it was possible for you to make a film with the 'feel' of films of that time (realistic Kung Fu showing real power and gymnastic ability) using some of the great artists of those times, would you do it? 2) After the success of your Wing Chun series, do you plan to make further projects with Yuen Biao? 3) Do you have any plans to work with Lau Kar Leung again? 4) Do you feel the lack of real talent in the HK film industry is the reason for your increased popularity, and can we expect to see more and more top quality projects lead by the great Sammo Hung? The fans love you. I'm sure you guys can think of more |

Good questions guys! With such professional questions I see I'll have to delete some of my girlie ones, such as what's your aftershave... Hi guys, Only a question that is puzzling me.. I checked some filmographies. In Sammo's there's Martial Law and Wing Chun. If we put series in, why not put End Enmity Hollow (Valley of Lost Vengeance) in? The same question for Lam Ching Ying. The Vampire Expert series are not mentioned and other TV series. Please enlighten me about it. What goes in and what doesn't? It is not clear for me thanks! |

Thanks J-L. That would add to a lot of people's filmographies... I actually looked at Chin Yuet Sang's filmography - he is in Vampire Expert I, in a lot of episodes. BTW, I sent the Sammo questions to Bey this morning... I deleted almost all of my old ones... No question about the aftershave, although I'd really like to know the answer to that one! |

Sure, I really mention "The Happiest Moment". I've seen "All's Well Ends Well Too" where Ricky plays an old woman in the entire movie. He also did it before in a hilarious scene from the not so hilarious "To Hell With The Devil". So I was surprised he was already transforming in old women in the early 70's. I'll try to make a caption of it. Maybe we should open a new thread to continue with Ricky before Sammo fans become angry after us... |

I know it's been a long time, but we are ready with another review: http://www.sammohungkambo.com/revslickers.htm I hope you'll like it. At first I didn't like this film, but now as I was making the screencaps, I had to change my mind. It has a really special humour, I laughed out loud a number of times. Sammo's sense of humour... well... Unique. |

Thanks Klara. I'm really enjoying this Sammo avatar. Even if it's sad for Ricky. |

Never mind, manolo Actually, do you know that Ricky was a gues performer again in Sam Hui's concert? Those Wushu trailers look really impressive, aren't they? Hopefully there are some new talents for HK cinema I cannot wait to see that film, and of course all the new projects Sammo is working on. He's gonna be one of the judges in Jackie's The Disciple show. That's an interesting one! |

I didn't know Ricky was still performing. In fact, I don't know much about his musical works. I continue to discover his work as an actor. I have the dvd of Laughter of Water Margins to watch. My chinese friends love that movie, so I think I'll enjoy even though it seems less popular to western audience. And about Sammo, I'm glad he's still very active in the film industry. I would like him to teach Donnie Yen the good old way to make action sequences. |

Ricky is a good singer, I love his voice. I have Laughters of the Water Margins and I love it too. It is unusual, but really funny I think. I am curious if you'll like it or not Here are some pics of Sammo and Andy Lau, I really love these ones |
