Stephen Chow 周星馳 serait en passe de réaliser son premier "film américain".

Le titre du projet est Tai Chi 太極.

Ce serait une relecture de "La Fureur du dragon" (猛龍過江) de Bruce Lee, transformé en kung fu comedy.

Le scénario est signé Stephen Chow et Fung Chi Keung* 馮志強
* On ne sait pas s'il s'agit du scénariste hongkongais (CJ-7, Sparrow...) ou du maître martial de Tai Chi du même nom.

Pitch :
Stephen Chow est un grand expert en Tai Chi exilé aux USA, où il est devenu... plongeur dans un resto. Pour protéger ses compatriotes victimes d'agressions, il décide de créer une école d'art martiaux. Parmi ses élèves, il y aura... un Blanc, patron de restaurant. Ce dernier, grâce à l'enseignement reçu, triomphera des méchants.

On cite le nom de Jack Black (杰克-布莱克) pour le rôle du disciple.
Ce serait même le héros du film, Stephen Chow jouant le second rôle.

Ce projet implique, outre la société de Chow, China Film (中國電影集團公司) et une société anglaise (藝華有限公司).

Ils avaient déjà un projet ensemble de film de super héros il y a un moment.Le pitch n'est pas très intéressant à priori, mais comme j'apprécie beaucoup le deux acteurs, ça devrait me plaire.

@china.org.cn : Wei [Dasen] from Chow's company says the actor-director is currently writing the screenplay for the new film. "It will be about a superhero, action-packed, special effects-rich, and of course funny."
American beauty Anne Hathaway is likely to star in the unnamed film, according to Wei.
Chinese media cited sources close to Chow as saying that the film will be similar in style to "Kung Fu Hustle", which is full of parodies and exaggerations.
@slashfilm.com : Now there’s a report that the film might be called Tai Chi, and that it is really a remake of Bruce Lee‘s film Way of the Dragon, released in the US as Return of the Dragon.
@Matt Goldberg : CNA says that Tai Chi will be produced by China Film Group Corporation and “an unnamed American film company,” and will cost $60 million to make. Chow reportedly spent two years on the film to make it perfect (he is, unsurprisingly, a huge fan of Lee’s) and is working with a Tutor to make sure his English is strong enough to be worthy of an English-language debut.
For those who don’t know, Way of the Dragon “tells the story of a Chinese migrant in the US (played by Chow) who works as a dishwasher in Chinatown and hides his skills as a Tai Chi master. He is forced to stand up to gangsters who oppress his fellow migrants and later gets invited to start martial arts schools to share his knowledge.”

Un "King of Comedy 2" serait dans l'air.
