Des nouvelles des Twins ! (source The Star on Line) pour toi Thomas !!
Fun on the set
The TWINS girls who co-star in The Twins Effect 2 talk about working on the set with newcomer Jaycee Chan, who gets the most media attention.
THE girls from TWINS look shocked. They could hardly believe it when reporters informed them that the gou zai dui aka paparazzi phenomenon does not exist in Malaysia. One of their assistants laughingly remarked that they should consider migrating here.
According to the duo, Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi, the Hong Kong paparazzi have grown more daring in their pursuit of exclusive pictures.
“We do not mind them taking pictures of us. We accept that it is part and parcel of being famous,” said Choi.
“But these days they are blatantly invading our privacy. In the past, they would hide and shoot. But now the cameras are this close (she demonstrated with her hand just centimetres from her face). Rather than just take pictures, they try to provoke the artistes as well. And I dislike the fact that they are also disturbing our friends and family.”
Chung and Choi were in Kuala Lumpur last Thursday with Jaycee Chan and Chen Bo Lin to promote the movie The Twins Effect 2.
In the movie, Choi plays Spring, a male slave trader while Chung plays Blue, a warrior who works for the evil Empress. Both appeared in The Twins Effect (TTE).
While the girls admitted to feeling the pressure in TTE, seeing it was their first big budget film, they found the experience more relaxing and fun this time around.
On working with Jaycee, the girls said their first impression of him was of a tai kor (Big Brother).
“He did not say much. Just ‘hi’,” Chung pointed out in Cantonese.
She recalled that on the first day of filming she had to film a romantic scene with Jaycee. “He was so shy. But as filming progressed he warmed up and turned out to be quite talkative. You can see he likes making friends. And he was never without his guitar.”
Choi added that initially his presence on the set, especially when reporters were sighted nearby, were very hush-hush.
“The crew would quickly shield him from them. We found out that it was because they did not want his involvement in the movie revealed too early on. After a while we started shielding him from the media too. It was hilarious.”
Neither minded that much of the movie’s buzz was centred on Jaycee.
“We got to have a break,” Choi quipped.
Commenting on action director Corey Yuen’s remark that she could be the next female martial arts star, Chung humbly noted that Yuen was too kind.
Chung, who enjoyed watching martial arts movies when she was younger, said that doing a martial arts flick gives her confidence as well as allowing her to find her career path.
“In the past, not all the roles I have accepted are what I wanted to do, but this was one I really wanted. At the same time, I do not want to be stereotyped into just doing the martial arts genre. I want to take on various roles.”
Choi chipped in: “The more genres we do, the better. We learn from experience. And for every movie we do there is always something new to learn. For me, acting enriches my life’s experience.
“In acting, I can do things that I cannot do in real life. To date, I have walked down the aisle numerous times and can boast of having many husbands,” she stated laughingly. – By Li Ee Kee
